Simply amazing. I cannot think of a single dish I've tried at Kotobuki that has disappointed me. Sushi is always fresh and everything is super tasty.
Atmosphere
It's a small dining room which can get crowded easily and the tables are pretty close together. The good part is, and this has happened many times, you will often find good people sitting next to you and the conversation flows between parties. It can be fun if you're near another good group.
Service
Everyone here is always very nice and very accomodating.
Value
You get a lot for your money here. Specials are very generous and you certainly do not lose quality because of the amount of food.
Overall
By far the best on Long Island...if you can deal with the wait.

Food
Great food! It is the best sushi restaurant that I have ever been to! I recommend it to everyone! It is a small place and you have to wait for a table most times, but it is worth it! Prices are slightly high, but the quality is excellent!

Food
I just felt I had to comment after some reviewed this restaurant so poorly. This restaurant has some of the best Japanese food on Long Island. It's the place we go to for all of our family's birthday dinners. The combo platters or specials are an excellent value and you get so much food. Their sushi is so fresh and delicious and the other Japanese food on the menus (eg. teriyaki and tempura ,etc) are just as good. The miso soup is among the best I've ever had.
Atmosphere
It is a very nice looking restaurant, especially since they've redesigned. Tables are close together so sometimes it may feel a little cramped.
Service
The table service is excellent. However, you need to get here early, because you can wait for a very long time. They don't accept reservations. Last time I went on a Saturday night they told me I needed to wait for 45 minutes. An hour and a half later I was getting a little upset. However, once I got in and ate the food almost all was forgotten. (There are bars nearby and they will take your cell phone number to ring you up, so it may work out better for some.)
Value
I always get a special combo dinner and it really is a great value.
Overall
One of the ones we always go to.

Food
The food is great, but sometimes, if they are too busy, which is often, they refuse to answer their phone. Or, they will turn the fax on, or they will literally pick up the phone and hang it up.

Food
This is by far the best Japanese restaurant on the Island. I am a regular customer and try to get there a few times a month. Their cooked menu is just as good as their Sashimi. I have gotten many non sushi eaters to try their food and they all got hooked. They have many signature dishes like Crab Wasabi Salad and Spicy Calamari.
Atmosphere
It's a small place so expect to wait. It is well worth it. It has recently been remodeled and they did a great job.
Service
I'm a regular so I know the whole staff. They make me feel very welcome.
Value
The prices are extremely reasonable.

This is my favorite restaurant

Food
Might be the best sushi on long island, but no matter how good the food is, it can’t make up for the substandard and second-rate treatment we received. We had dinner, paid the bill and were leaving when one of the waiters (not our waitress) came up to us outside complaining and accusing us of under-tipping our waitress. This was extremely embarrassing as he was very rude to both of us.

Service
Staff not friendly, took too long to take drink orders. Sat at the table for over half an hour with no waiter or waitress coming to our table.

Food
Easily the best sushi on Long Island and comparable with the best in New York City including Nobu. The fish here is the finest you will ever have, fresh and perfectly prepared. The specialty rolls are highly recommended as well as the oysters and "crudo", thinly sliced fish spread delicately out on a plate. Heavenly.
Atmosphere
Small venue and high demand can get hectic and frustrating at times, but you feel like you're part of a happening "scene", which is what this place is. Everyone is just glad to get a chance at the food here, which rocks! But this will soon change as they are renovating and will reopen this summer.
Service
Considering the volume of patrons and the cramped space they must work in, the staff is incredible. Drinks are refilled quickly and orders are always served to your liking. Once you get to know the staff, they go out fo their way for you each time.
Value
Consider that you are getting "Nobu" level cuisine for half the price.
Overall
Best restaurant on Long Island.

Food
This is the best sushi/sashimi restaurant on Long Island. The fish is always fresh and plentiful. Value excellent. The complimentary oysters are out of this world. Even the seaweed salad with salmon skin is the best tasting I've ever had.
Atmosphere
A bit cramped, but cute.
Service
Nice, but at times they can't keep up with large demand.
Value
The sushi for two is quite plentiful and varied.
Overall
I have not found any other sushi place on Long Island as good.
