Why is Eat Out Long Island
doing this?
The majority of information on Eat Out
Long Island is provided to restaurants and users free of charge.
However, there are maintenance costs associated with a
website of this size that covers an area as large as Nassau
and Suffolk counties. In order to continue
developing new features and maintaining the information on
the site, some monetary support is appreciated.
Instead of annoying pop-up ads or some other form of
intrusive advertising, we're offering the option for users
to sponsor restaurant pages. Here's how it works... |

Choose the restaurant
page or general site page you wish to
sponsor and click the "Click Here to Sponsor this Page" button
at the top right. |

Fill out the form on
the right or contact
me via email. |
| 3. |
After you fill out
the form and submit it, you send your payment using PayPal. |

Once payment is
received, your sponsorship will be listed for one year on
the page of your choice. |

I want a banner ad rather than
a text message. Can I do that and how do I send it to you?
|
| If you want to use a banner
ad rather than a text message, type "Banner Ad Preferred" in
the message text box. After we receive your order, we'll
contact you and provide an email address to you so you can email the file to
me in a zip file.
Accepted file types for banners include .jpg, .gif, .psd or
.swf format. Contact us regarding any other file type
as we may be able to accommodate it. Also note, we
will not design any banner ads for sponsored links. If
you choose a banner ad type link, you must supply the file.
Banner ad dimensions should be 468x60 pixels. |

What are the accepted forms of
payment? |
The preferred and fastest method
to pay is by credit card via PayPal.
In order to pay via PayPal, you must have a PayPal account.
Setting up a PayPal account is free, easy and does not
require you to provide them with any banking account
information. Only your Credit Card information is required.
Millions of people use PayPal every day to complete
transactions on eBay and thousands of other e-Commerce
sites. It is safe, fast, easy and secure.
If you wish to pay by check or money order, please contact me via email
to arrange payment. |

You say submission
must be approved. What does that mean? |
Eat Out Long Island will not
condone
any profane language or off-color remarks.
Additionally, sponsorship MAY NOT be used to denigrate or in
any way "bad mouth" a restaurant. The site
has a review section if you wish to express your displeasure
for a restaurant. Additionally, you may not use your
sponsorship to denigrate any other person or
organization. Advertisements and positive comments are
welcome, but any negative comments will most likely be
rejected. Partisan political statements of any kind will
also not be allowed.
Additionally, while submissions are not approved by the
restaurants prior to listing, if a restaurant contacts us to
remove the sponsor on their listing, that sponsor may be
removed, pending review by Eat Out Long Island. In the
event this should happen, you will be contacted and your
sponsorship will be transferred to another available page of
equal value. |

I'm a
restaurant owner/manager and don't want a sponsor on my page
or don't like the sponsor on my page. How can I get
rid of it? |
It's first come first serve.
You can purchase the sponsorship at the listed price before
someone claims it. If it's too late and someone has
already sponsored the page and you wish to get rid of that
sponsor,
you may buy out the sponsorship and sponsor the page
yourself.
Basically, that means you may be paying twice the original
sponsorship price. You will have to reimburse the
sponsor for the price they paid to advertise on your page
in addition to paying the current sponsorship fee your
page currently falls under, which may be more or less than
what the originally cost.
So, if someone sponsors your page at $48/year and the
page's current rank would put its cost at $48/year, it will
cost you $96/year to take over sponsorship of the page. |

Can I sponsor more than one page? |
| Yes. However, you must
submit a separate form for each entry. If you want to sponsor
several pages and do not want the hassle of submitting
multiple forms, you can contact me via email and we can
arrange an alternative means of submitting your entry. |

What type of text messages or banner ads
are acceptable. |
| Nothing negative or distasteful.
Once again, all submissions are subject to approval by Eat
Out Long Island. Just use common sense when choosing
your message/ad and there shouldn't be any problems. |

7. |
What if the restaurant featured
on the page I've sponsored goes out of business? |
| You will be allowed to choose a
new page to sponsor. If you do not respond, your
sponsorship will automatically be transferred to another
appropriate restaurant page of equal value. |
|
|
8. |
What will this money go toward? |
| In addition to server costs, some
of it will go toward site maintenance, development of new
features, etc. More important: If I get enough
sponsorships, I'd really love to start holding contests
and drawings for prizes such as Gift Certificates
as a way of thanking the loyal visitors and fans of this
site. |
