Food is wonderful. Tonight, we had the crab cake special...$9.95 for two crab cakes (real crab meat) over a half inch thick and over three inches across, on a bed of greens. Wonderful...absolutely wonderful. We also had Fried Green Tomatoes. Again, delicious. We were not crazy about the hash soup but last time we got the spicy chicken soup and loved it. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken. It came with baked macaroni and cheese (possibly the best I've ever had) and a choice of collard greens or green beans. I chose the collard greens and they were great. My husband had the barbecued brisket. It came with potato salad and green beans. The portions are healthy and the food is terrific. For dessert, we had the bread pudding and the banana pudding. Oh my are they scrumptious!
Atmosphere
The atmosphere is extremely inviting. It is a small restaurant. Around 14 tables. The walls are a warm gold color and there is some art work on the walls. The overhang has photographs. Even though it is crowded and at times loud it is relaxing and very welcoming.
Service
My husband has been there three times now and I have been there twice and the service has been wonderful. Whether the restaurant is empty or full, the service has been great. You are seated with a warm friendly welcome and you are served with good efficient service. Even though the restaurant was crowded our waiter was attentive and so was the hostess. The first time I was there Lillian Dent (the mother) was there and she came over, welcomed us and made us feel very at home. My husband told me that the first time he had eaten there she was just as gracious and came over to the table and welcome him, too.
Value
We've spend more at other restaurants and have been disappointed. This spot should have a waiting list to get into it. We had 2 appetizers, 1 soup, two dinner, two desserts, soda and coffee. The total was under $70. We did see a few patrons ordering a single meal and splitting it. The rib and the mixed platters were certainly big enough to do this with. This is one of those rare experiences where you can say you got your money's worth...and a bit more.
Overall
LL Dent's is a family owned and operated restaurant. It is owned by a mother and daughter team. I can't say enough about this restaurant. I am not sure if they take reservations. I have been lucky enough to get seated and served both times without a reservation. It is well worth the drive from where ever you are coming from.

Food
I had eaten dinner there twice. The first time the food was not bad had it not been cold (because of the a/c). However, I'm a big lover of fried calamari and at one time I had ordered it at the bar, it was absolutely perfectly prepared. I had highly recommended it. Upon my return, however, the last two times I ordered it, it was mushy and lightly fried, not like it had been before. I thought maybe it was an off day for the chef initially, but whoever they hired needs to go back to culinary school. Ugh!
Atmosphere
Go for the happy hour...drink lots and you won't notice how terrible everything else is. The bar staff is what makes the place.
Service
I can safely say, it runs hot and cold, much like the food. I had been upstairs one summer day, dressed in summer garb. My friend and I found ourselves trying to warm our hands over the candle on the table, since we didn't bring in our winter coats. Silly us. The fans were blowing the cold air from the A/C down on us, making the food cold and unappealing. I asked Management if they could lower the a/c since we were FREEZING...and nothing was done. I was NOT happy at all!
Value
Not at all! For what it was worth (no pun) the price should have been equal to the food. "You get what you pay for," but in this case, I was way overcharged.
Overall
Nice happy hour and that's where I would leave it.

Overall
We were a party of eight for Brunch. We were handed the bill and there was no mention that an 18% gratuity was already included. It was just included in the total...not itemized. We tipped again as we were hosting the get together. After we left the restaurant we realized the error but they were no help when we called. So beware since you too could be ripped off. And all in all it was just an average experience and brunch was nothing to brag about.

Food
The salad was good, steak not so much and desert might have been but we ordered it to go. The waitress heated it up and put ice cream inside the container with the hot cake so by the time we got home the ice cream was completely melted and the cake was horrible.
Atmosphere
Tables were close together and it was pretty loud. Nothing special.
Service
Our waitress, aside from the dessert situation, was okay. She just seemed very nervous the whole time.
Value
A bit too expensive for the quality and amount of food.
Overall
I had heard great things about this restaurant but was very disappointed. If I were in the area again I would consider trying it again but I wouldn't travel any distance for it!

Food
I give it a 3 because we never got to taste the food. It might have been good if we were served the same dishes that were described on the menu and what we ordered. They seemed to have a big problem with bacon that night. Three people that ordered a ravioli dish that was supposed to have been topped with bacon and my son ordered a bacon cheese burger and they forgot the bacon. The food was not as hot as it should've been either. When we pointed out what was omitted, we were served cold bacon bits.
Please note, we were there this Father's day to celebrate my husband.
Atmosphere
I didn't have a problem with the decor.
Service
The place was not crowded and we didn't have to wait long. The staff was fine but it took them too long to bring us grated cheese and fresh ground pepper. Considering that the restaurant wasn't packed, and because it was Father's Day, I expected something better.
When I complained and told the manager that I was leaving, he didn't care.
Value
Since we didn't pay a dime, didn't eat and wound up going to All-American we were fine. Now I still owe my husband a nice meal and I think the next time we go out it will be to the Outback. We've never been there but people say it's good. It can't be worse than this place.
By the way, their prices are comparable to most excellent local restaurants.
Overall
We have so many better places to eat. By the way, their prices are comparable to most excellent local restaurants and we have gone to better. You might ask why did we go there...well my husband picked it and it was his day.
