We have had both lunches and dinner here. Excellent menu selections and specials. For lunch, the grilled tuna sandwich and lobster salad are excellent choices. Most recently, for dinner, Calamari was fresh and tender, New England Clam Chowder and Lobster Bisque were both good but could have had more clams / lobster meat. Three in our party had lobster in the rough (Lobster, mussels, corn on the cob, chowder), the fourth had Shrimp scampi over linguine tossed with spinach. All were fresh, flavorful and well prepared. Don't expect high end culinary presentation or fine china and linens. Do expect good seafood.
Atmosphere
Topside restaurant is an outdoor rooftop restaurant and bar. It overlooks the Montauk Harbor so you can watch the endless parade of fishing and pleasure boats coming and going. No children under 16 allowed are allowed topside so you can enjoy a pleasant afternoon, evening or romantic moment without the distraction of poorly behaved or screaming children.
Service
Staff was friendly, helpful and courteous. Our drinks were replenished when empty and requests for additional drawn butter, napkins, etc. were taken care of quickly. The most we have waited for a table has been 1/2 hour for dinner on a balmy August Saturday night.
Value
Menu selections are moderately priced and deliver a good value for the money. Drink selection includes the current trend of various Martinis and frozen drinks, a good wine list and beer selection. One unusual thing, all beers, domestic and imported, bottled and draft, are the same price. ($5.00)
Overall
This is one of our favorite summertime restaurants on Long Island. Over the years we have driven 90+ miles to go for lunch here and we always make it part of our itinerary if we are spending time on the south fork.

Food
I had the crab cakes and the L.I. duck. It was amazing! Chef John Jones is a technical wizard. Any foodie that wants to challenge him better beware, the man can cook!
Atmosphere
Both restaurants overlook the water and the menu comes from two perfectly synchronized kitchens. The light jazz required by John Gosman Sr. is perfectly appropriate. The wait staff is cordial and well trained. Perfect execution all around!
Service
The staff was knowledgable and courteous. Considering we had to wait 30 minutes to eat at Gosman's best restaurant, the window bar was great. The wait was nothing and Colin was the funniest Bar-man in Montauk.
Value
Everywhere else dinner starts at $30, including the main restaurant, my dinner was the Fluke special and I paid $21. Anywhere else I would have paid $50. John Jones is a magician, no one could have done a more delicate job. I will be back!
Overall
Don't forget to start at Topside, Jeff Moore is the best barkeep in Montauk!

Food
Oh, so good. New England clam chowder and very tasty local lobster.
Atmosphere
What can be better? Enjoying an amazing meal with family and friends right there at the mouth of Montauk harbor. Fishing boats slowly passing along pursued by seagulls, the jetty rocks busy with stone-jumpers, a memory making evening created by one great restaurant.
Service
We had to wait a short while for a table, but worth the wait. The hostess, our waitress and the rest were fun and good at what they do.
Value
Overall value is great. Nice size portions and delicious seafood equals expensive. Want a great night out?...Ya gotta pay. Gosman's is worth it.
Overall
Just a fun place to go and enjoy a wonderful meal. I've been to Gosman's many times and always have a blast.

Food
For a party of eight, two halibut and one swordfish dish were ALL overcooked. Dishes were dry. Calamari was ok. At least not hard to indicate being stale.
Atmosphere
Very nice atmosphere. Clean. Not too loud.
Service
Horrible service. When asked to bring kids' dishes earlier, the waitress said that it was impossible based on their computer system. Grilled cheese sandwiches for kids were not on the menu. I guess too hard to make. One fish dish was asked to have sauce on the side. We were told that she would put it in the computer but it was unknown if the chef would follow those instructions. Boiled potatoes, extra cocktail sauce, drinks were all late. Ketchup never came. Waitress might have been young, but a famous place like Gosman's should rectify something like that.
Value
Would never return to Gosman's. Prices are not cheap and we get better service at McDonald's.
