• "What spoke volumes about Leisa Dent's culinary talent was barbecued spare ribs, a special that should be a menu staple. They were smoky, meaty and extremely tender. Another non-menu item, salmon with sausage, peppers and onions over creamy cheese grits, was so compelling, I couldn't keep my fork out of a friend's plate. While the Southern fried chicken was crisp and juicy, I wish I'd known beforehand that the portion was just a quarter of a bird, since I would have requested dark meat. The heady pulled pork, whether served on a sandwich or as platter, proved irresistible every time, as did the crunchy cornmeal-crusted fried catfish, a sandwich at lunch" - Joan Reminick, Newsday
I can't say enough! I had the pulled brisket (it's pulled pork, but instead of pork it's brisket) and it was INCREDIBLE! I could not stop eating it! The meat was moist and juicy, delicious etc. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! The food is amazing!
The atmosphere is great! It's a little tiny place with a warm feeling. It was very clean! It was not very busy that night/afternoon (probably because I went at around 5:00 PM) But it's just a relaxing and warm place to enjoy a good meal!
Well, the service is great! We had two waiters/waitresses. The waiter was very fun! He made me and my whole family laugh! Don't you love it when your waiter/waitress makes you laugh and enjoy being at that restaurant? The service was great!
Well I'm not sure what the value is because I didn't pay the bill! But I'm sure it's a great deal!
Overall, this restaurant is FABULOUS! I'm not sure if they take reservations or not, but if they do I would surely call and make one because It can get pretty busy! I think it's well worth the drive from wherever you are coming from! This place is great!
The food is very good, it's a very nice place to eat, it feels good and the food captures you. I've been to brunch and dinner several times and could not find too many faults other than the catfish is delicious, a little overspiced which is not southern, but everything else was very good.
It's clean, quiet and the decor is welcoming
The waiter's uniforms could use a little care.
Not too bad, but right up there with the big guys.
A good experience for Southern food. Worth everyone trying once because there is no other "real" decent southern food restuarant on the Island that I am aware of.
