Have had several meals here, from breakfast , lunch and through dinner. Thought the food had quality as well as more than ample portions. The selection was varied enough from veggie burgers to lobster.
Our dining group enjoyed the patriotic feel that this place conveys - from flags to stars and stripes hanging from the ceilings. Place was clean and the atmosphere was great. Bathrooms were clean and maintained as well.
Never had to ask for water or coffee refills - someone was always there keeping you fresh. Waitress was knowledgeable about the menu items and was very polite. Food was served in a very timely manner.
Thought the quality and quantity of food justified the prices.
If you are in the mood for something small, medium or large you can find it here. All the menu items are worth trying. This is more than a glorified diner.
Did not stay long enough to be served. I have eaten there MANY times since it has opened and always enjoyed the food.
We love going there because they always have the diner decorated according to the season/Holiday and we love it.
Did not get served this visit.
Prices are on the same level as other diners.
My husband and I went this morning (Dec. 28th around 10:30 a.m.) to enjoy breakfast. When we went in we thought there was a line but the people already there said they were about to leave but were waiting for others to come from the dining area. I put my name on the list and there were NO other names, I know this because I watched the hostess write down my name. A few minutes later a man and his wife came in and the owner saw them and came to shake this man hands (obviously the owner knew these people.) An older woman came and said hello to these people and then took the pad that had my name on it. I said to her that I was next and she said, "I see what happened here." Then took the two people that just came in and brought them to the empty booth that should have been ours. The owner and the older woman just ignored us and seated their friends first. This is not how I want to be treated by ANY diner, much less one that my family an I have patronized since their opening. I will now think twice before I ever go to the Oconee Diner and will be sure to repeat my story to friends and family.
Everything was great! Get the baked salmon.
Super clean and happy!
Kelly was outstanding and very helpful!
For the salmon meal, salad and desert I received, it was worth every penny it cost!
This diner has always been a ten in my eyes and still is one of the top diners I frequent on long island and most likely is the number one because I have never been disappointed when I ate there!
We ate buffalo wings and mozzarella sticks as our appetizers; excellent! For the main course we had N.Y. Sirloin ,a nice thick cut, generous portion of lean meat with no fat. I was pleasantly surprised. We also had roast chicken cooked to perfection, not dry. A burger deluxe with hot french fries, which is rare in a diner. Our vegetables included string beans almondine and steamed spinach which was also delicious. From A-Z, the menu had just about anything you could possibly think of. The best desserts...cheese strudel and carrot cake.
First ,there are American flags all over the place, showing how a Greek owner is honored to be an American patriot. There is modern day music throughout with many T.V. screens showing any sports event going on, so you won't miss your favorite team playing while you dine! Simply unique!
At the door you are very pleasantly greeted with open arms from Peter, Spiro, Billy, Gus and Dimo. If you have to wait at all, it's no more than fifteen minutes, mainly because there is a large capacity of seating. Immediately, bread and hors d'ourves are served, and your server promptly takes your drink order. The managers come around and ask if everything is alright while passing out cookies and tootsie-roll lollipops!
Very, very reasonably priced. Very accommodating; Pleasant service. If i wanted to entertain friends or family from out of town, this would definitely be my choice of restaurant. There were nothing but smiling faces leaving after they were finished eating while once again being greeted like family as Gus say's,"My house is your house!"
You will not be disappointed. It's well worth it. They accommodate large groups with a very large seating capacity (approximately 240 seats) international cuisine, pleasant and prompt service. You will love this diner and will come back again and again! Try it.
